Snactivity for scouts!

Besides feeding my 2 girls, I don't normally work with kids. But as a dietitian and supporter of Girl scouts, I never pass up an opportunity to teach kids about healthy snacks. The other night, we made veggie robots.The beauty of this 'snactivity' is that the girls are trying new foods with their peers while getting creative with food. You can use fresh vegetables or fruit and vary the dips. All you really need is produce, plates, toothpicks, hummus or Greek yogurt dip. Vanilla yogurt goes great with fresh fruit, and their getting calcium to boot!Their is no better joy than hearing a kid say, "I tried red peppers and I love them"! Yes, I'm a big nerd.
