Food should taste good.

The theme for National Nutrition Month this year is "Enjoy the taste of eating right". If you ask friends or family members if they "eat to live, or live to eat", you may get a variety of answers. But let's face it- nearly all of us want to eat food that tastes good! And while I like bacon just as much as the next gal, I know I can eat it daily.Below are some surprisingly tasty (but healthy) foods to try this month.1. Raw asparagus. While spring isn't quite here yet, asparagus season is right around the corner. If you haven't tried it raw yet, do it. It's great dipped in hummus or baba ganoush.2. Roasted chick peas. Tired of snacking on pretzels, popcorn or nuts? Try roasting chick peas. These high fiber gems can be seasoned with Kosher salt and garlic or cinnamon and sugar for a sweet treat. They're a great source of protein and fiber to boot.3. Frozen Greek yogurt. The beauty of Greek yogurt is its rich, full-bodied texture and tangy taste. Frozen Greek yogurt is lower in fat and sugar but higher in protein than traditional frozen yogurt.4. Asiago cheese. Cheese gets a bad rap because of its fat content. But harder cheese like Parmesan and Asiago are lower in fat, high in calcium and protein and have a nutty, strong flavor. Shred a bit on your salad or pasta or enjoy a small wedge with your favorite apple or pear.5. Olives. Many people shy away from olives due to their fat and sodium content. But for someone limiting their carbohydrates, these are a perfect snack mid-afternoon or evening. While high in sodium, they're an excellent source of heart-healthy mono-unsaturated fat and vitamin E.
