Will Work for Food

Here's a different slant on the 'will work for food' concept. How about literally working for your food by growing a garden, picking produce at a local farm, orchard or vineyard, or joining a working food cooperative? In addition to great locally grown, fresh food you can get some exercise and have lots of fun. Here are a few ideas for getting started:

Plant a garden -
  • No idea how to get started? Surf the web, make a trip to the library, visit the local extension office, or join a garden club.
  • No room for a garden? Use containers or lease a plot from a community garden or local farmer.
  • No time? Involve friends and family!
Pick your own produce -
  • Get started by checking your local newspaper or a drive to the 'country'
  • Get more nutrients (fresher) and improve the environment (locally grown)
  • Get a bargain - it can be less expensive when you do the work

Join a food cooperative that requires you to participate -

  • Get involved in the growing, weeding, harvesting and/or distribution of locally grown, fresh produce

Working for your food will make it taste so much better - we guarantee it!.
