About Lisa

Lisa Cicciarello Andrews, MEd, RD, LD

My friends affectionately call me “Nutrigirl”. Being Italian, food has always been central in my life. My mom struggled with her weight and my dad dealt with complications of diabetes. I suffered through an eating disorder in my late teens (bulimia) and decided a career in nutrition might help me understand the connection between food and health more clearly.

After graduating with a dietetics degree from Youngstown State University, and I completed my dietetic internship at Good Samaritan Hospital where I received the Sister Romuald Award. RD stands for Registered Dietitian and LD means I’m licensed in Ohio (see the FAQ section) www.soundbitesnutrition.com/faqs

My career began in 1990 as a clinical dietitian at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. I became well-versed in illness, but over the years, my focus shifted to wellness. To broaden my skill set, I worked part-time for the Nutrition Council of Cincinnati and gained experience writing, presenting, and providing cooking demos.

I completed my Master’s degree at the University of Cincinnati in 1998 and became an adjunct instructor at UC and NKU, I have taught undergraduate, graduate and nursing students for almost 20 years. I launched Sound Bites Nutrition in 2008 to empower individuals and groups to make “sound bites” to better health. I’m now focusing my career on freelance writing and consulting for brands and other companies.

I write for http://foodandhealth.com, www.9am.health.com and other outlets. The Healing Gout Cookbook (my first), released in March, 2020. https://www.amazon.com/Healing-Gout-Cookbook-Anti-Inflammatory-Recipes-ebook/dp/B0857KD9Y3

I’ve used my sense of humor and love of puns to make food pun tees and swag where part of the proceeds go to food insecurity initiatives and education in Cincinnati. They can be found here: https://soundbitesnutrition.com/shop

In 2017, I received the Ohio Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Recognized Dietitian of the Year award. In 2002, I received the Ohio Dietetic Association Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award. I received a People’s Liberty project grant award in 2016 for $10,000 and am the founder of People’s Pantry Cincy. You can read about and follow it here: http://facebook.com/peoplespantrycincy

Finally, I’ve worked with several food brands as a media rep and influencer and am open to new collaborations! Check out my video gallery for previous work https://soundbitesnutrition.com/sound-bites-video-gallery/ and contact me to collaborate: lisa@soundbitesnutriition.com
