For decades breakfast has been touted as the most important meal of the day, and not to sound like a broken record but the research continues to prove it – breakfast is still the most important meal of the day.Here’s what the latest research is telling us about breakfast:

  • Feel like you are forgetting more than you remember? Try eating breakfast.  Research shows that eating breakfast can improve memory in all ages.
  • Eating first thing in the morning helps to regulate blood sugar levels.  Regulating blood sugar levels may help ward off cravings, curb hunger and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
  • Educators, healthcare providers and parents have been telling children that eating breakfast will make them better students.  Well now there are studies that show that breakfast eaters perform at almost one grade level higher than those who skip breakfast.
  • Have you lost weight only to put it back on?  The research found that maintaining weight loss can be as simple as eating breakfast.  Studies found that adults who eat breakfast feel fuller all day, making calorie-control easier.
  • Is breakfast skipping increasing childhood obesity?  Recent studies show that eating breakfast helps prevent obesity in children – just like adults, children feel fuller all day.
